Health and Food Donation Boxes for Those in Need

Health-and-Donation-Boxes

During the closure of the local Fred’s Dollar Store #1840 in Hoover, Alabama, representatives reached out to our organization to get their goods to those who needed them most in our local community.

This generous donation enabled WOW to serve women and families in our area with resources, medical supplies, personal care products, and food.

Here’s a video of our founder and president excited over these blessings we used to help our Alabama families in 2019.

According to research from the Congressional Hunger Center, the overall food insecurity rate in Alabama is 16.5%. This includes the central and southern parts of the state, which report some of the nation’s highest rates of hunger.

Further complicating this problem, 17.2% of women in Alabama live in poverty according to data from the National Women’s Law Center. This is higher than the national average of 12%.

We work with local businesses to offer resources to local young women and girls. This prevents our girls and young women from becoming negative statistics. We want to break the cycle of poverty so we can create the cycle of success.

We need you to continue to help us improve the lives of girls and young women in our community. Click here to learn how you can help.
