A Word From Our Founder

I, K. Nikkie Pittman, founder of this nonprofit organization, was a statistic.

I had a child at 16, I received food stamps, WIC, and my mom worked 2 to 3 jobs leaving me at home to take care of my younger brother. My mother became alcohol dependent to cope with life struggles.

There were many other economic barriers that I had to overcome, even with surviving a suicide attempt.

I know better than anyone what it takes to survive in that environment and also what it takes to overcome and make it out successfully.

I have beaten the odds. I have been on my job for over 20 years and I have a Juris Doctorate degree. This is the reason I started the nonprofit organization.

This is my way of giving back to the community. Funding this program targets that critical age when self-esteem decreases.

The “I Am Worth It!” project focuses on building a keen sense of confidence, self-worth, and self-esteem in each participant.

Participation in the program equips and educates individuals with strategies and tools to increase their self-efficacy to better cope with the basic challenges of life, good decision making, having a healthy lifestyle, and increasing self-worth. This program provides transportation to and from the hosting facility for those that may not have proper means of transportation.

We also provide a meal to ensure they are receiving healthy nutrition during the session. The experience, tools, and resources we provide will give each participant the confidence and knowledge needed to overcome any obstacle.
